Franklin “Frank” Potter Schreiber, age 81, of Erie passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Kane on Nov. 16, 1930, son of the late Harry and Mary (Mayme) Potter Schreiber.
He graduated from Kane High School and served six years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Frank worked for Kendall Refining in Bradford, Beckwith Machinery in Erie and United Refining in Warren. Following his retirement he worked for Family First Sports Park.
Frank was a member of St. Julia Catholic Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kane, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Erie and a member of the Zem Zem Temple Shrine. He enjoyed square dancing, driving trucks and heavy equipment.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Louann Schreiber, and brother-in-law Cyril Dahlkemper.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Schreiber of Erie; two daughters, Deborah Kavala of Kane, and Becky Cook of Bradford; two step-sons, Jeffrey Custer and John Custer and his wife Ann, all of Erie; two step-daughters, Joan Segel and her husband Elliot of North East and Mary Nace and her husband Thomas of High Falls, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Rachel Burton and her husband Matt, Jesse Allan Olson and his wife Shannon, and Joseph Olson of Kane; three great-grandchildren, Melissa Burton, Sarah Stitt and Benjamin Olson; and six step-grandchildren, Joshua and Alyssa Segel, Robert and Mark Custer, and Jonathan and Kirsten Nace. He is further survived by brother-in-law Paul Dahlkemper and his wife Norma Jean of Erie; and sister-in-law Detta Dahlkemper, also of Erie.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Avenue on Wednesday, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend prayers there on Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia Catholic Church 638 Roslyn Ave. Erie, Pa. 16505 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, McKean.
