The removal of one of the worst eyesores in Kane may be on the horizon.
The McKean County Housing and Redevelopment Authority may take ownership and raze the deteriorating fire-damaged Knights of Columbus (K of C) building on Chase Street near Bayard Street.
The authority may erect apartments on the site.
Part of the proposal also calls for the borough to give the authority the adjacent site that once housed Papa Nick's Restaurant. The borough demolished the restaurant, which also was heavily damaged in the same fire several years ago.
The Kane Eagles Club wanted the Papa Nick's site for parking. However, the borough decided that it would take ownership of the site because it had spent about $14,000 in demolition costs. These costs have yet to be recovered.
