James B. Ewing, 76, of 118 Chestnut St., passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1935, in Sheffield, he was a son of Frank and Avanelle Lawhead Ewing. On March 13, 1957, in Smethport, he married Shirley Fitzgerald who survives.
Before retirement, Jim was a press operator at Dresser's. He served with the National Guard and was a member of the Kar Krazees. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. His passion was his 1972 Vega.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 55 years, are three daughters, Valorie Ewing of Port Allegany, Deborah (Bob) Cappello of Kane and Julie Ewing of Kane; one granddaughter, Courtney Lupole of Kane; his honorary grandson, Sean Rugh of Kane; two brothers, Glenn Ewing of Garner, N.C., and Larry Ewing of Salinas, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Fisher of Garner, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a brother, Don Ewing; and a son-in-law Bob Boedecker.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Debbie Smith, pastor of Faith Church of Charity in Port Allegany, officiating. Burial arrangements are private for the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kane Community Hospital Auxiliary.
