Robert L. Mix, 68, of 9 Keesler Ave., Mt. Jewett, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at the Bradford Nursing Pavilion.
Born July 1, 1944, in Bradford, he was a son of Pete Mix and Elaine Balon Greenawalt. On Oct. 5, 1963, at St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, he married Carole Boedecker who survives.
Mr. Mix worked in construction and also owned the former Mt. Jewett Feed Store for several years.
He loved spending time with his family and having picnics and he also enjoyed being at his camp at Duke Center. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and camping.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are five sons, Scott (Tammy) Mix of Kane, Steve (Brenda) Mix of Kane, John (Doreen) Mix of Lantz Corners, Mike (Mandy) Mix of Mt. Jewett and Brad Mix of Mt. Jewett ; three sisters, Carol (Butch) Keller of Mt. Jewett, Debbie (Jim) Maze in Tennessee; and Kathy (Poe) Leggette of Virginia; one brother, Brad Mix in California; two uncles, Ron Mix of Belfast, N.Y. and Jim Balon of Wilkes-Barre; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Greenawalt and Elaine Greenawalt; his biological father, Pete Mix; and a sister, Linda Parr.
Friends and family may attend a memorial service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, 1 Boyd St., Mt. Jewett, with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Mt. Jewett Fire Hall.
