Mary N. Housler-Slocum, 88, of 9605 Rte. 6, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born March 27, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Ceasare and Delfina Colacchio Pucci. On April 28, 1946, she married Robert L. Housler Sr. who preceded her in death. She later married Leonard W. Slocum who also preceded her in death.
Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church and also attended the Mt. Jewett Assembly of God Church. She was employed throughout her life as a secretary, retiring from the Seneca Highlands IU9. She also had been a leader of the 4H Horse Club. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia (Bruce) Jack of Mt. Jewett and Cathy (Michael) Thomas of Smethport; three grandsons, Adam Jack of Smethport, Robert Housler of Kane and David Thomas of Smethport; four granddaughters, Shelley Jack of Bradford, Donna Lorenzo of Emporium, Amy Alves of Easton and Bridgette Housler of Emporium; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husbands and parents, by a son, Robert L. Housler Jr; a daughter-in-law Bonnie Housler; and a brother, Nicolo M. Pucci.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Jewett at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery.
