Brenda L. Emer, 44, of 142 New Jersey Ave. (P.O. Box 212) in James City, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2013 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh after a series of courageous battles with cancer over 16 years.
Born Nov. 15, 1968 in Kane, she was the daughter of Wallace R. and Jo Ann Swanson Dyne. On Aug. 3, 1991 in Kane, she married Cy E. Emer, who survives.
Brenda was employed by the Kane Area School District and Jim Airgood Busing. She was an active member of Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane, where served in the Altar Guild and played in the handbell choir.
She was also very active in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Kane, in which she was a member of the West Side Walkers.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of Jane Lew, W.Va., are her father, Wallace "Wally" Dyne of Kane; a son, John Emer, and a daughter, Allison Emer, both at home; a sister, Deb (Tom) Cunningham of James City; and two brothers, Steve (Kerri) and Bob Dyne, both of Kane. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, and may attend a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 in the Kane Area High School auditorium with the revs. Bill Waterman, pastor of Tabor Lutheran Church, and W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett - Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, co-officiating. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Kanesholm at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions please be made to the American Cancer Society, 95 Main St., Bradford, PA 16701 in her memory.
